Ears Down to the Noise Floor
Instructions: Put your iTunes collection on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title. (Christin's House Rule: it's okay to change verb tenses and original intended punctuation.)

Help Me: I Think I'm Falling (In Love [Again])

Nora says I don't love her (the way she wants to be loved) -
"I need your love, babe!"
You think that I can't live without your love? You'll see
two dozen other dirty lovers!
(You're doing everything that people said to.)

Closing time:
"If you ever plan to motor west,
I'll draw the whole world and separate everything.
God damn! It's a joke that you never forget."

I was at my weakest state and you kept me pushing on.
I never walk when I can run -
no more Mister Nice Guy.
(When the night was still,
I opened my eyes when you were kissing me.)

"Caramba caracho, ein whiskey!"
When I went to your town on the wide-open shore,
there were needles in the evening air.
"Have you ever been close to tragedy?"
"Oi, lienda, bella che fa?"
"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?"

Fiona Apple - Parting Gift

Heino - Caramba Caracho, Ein Whiskey!
Dar Williams - The Ocean
